September 8, 2020 - I'm happy for you!

Heavenly Father and the Savior love us with a perfect and constant love, and we love Them, so it behooves us to be faithful, diligent, and patient—line upon line, precept upon precept, a day at a time, a week at a time. We can begin today to become a better son or daughter of God, seeking to do His will and keep His commandments.

Ed J. Pinegar, “31 Days to a Better You”

My finite, mortal way of thinking tells me that when I do something stupid and, therefore, the Spirit leaves....I think He is completely gone for a certain amount of time or until I repent. Therefore, I am alone.

While part of that is true, we are never alone. EVERY TIME we make a step in the right direction, the Spirit is right back by our side. He is there even if I did something so stupid and I don't deserve his presence. All I have to do is "want" to be better. In fact, his job, is to lead us to do good, to be better. So, he is actively influencing us always, whether we deserve it or not.

Imagine the joy and cheers on the other side when we take a step in the right direction. I can't fathom that. I don't completely understand it. When I think of me cheering and applauding, I do it half heartedly most of the time. Also, I do it sometimes out of responsibility or tradition. So, I think that everyone does it just like me. You know...."a liar assumes everyone lies" kind of thing.

However, when Heavenly Father, Christ, loved ones, angels, and others cheer for us when we make a step in the right direction, it's not superficial or fake. It's not done out of a sense of responsibility or because "that's just what you do". It is genuine. It is sincere joy and happiness for us, that we are that much closer to our end goal of eternal life.

Are we sincerely that happy for someone else? Can we even be that happy for someone else without jealousy or envy? All part of this wonderful mortality. 🤗
