Ask the Lord what His plan for you is, and as you are willing to submit your will to His, be humble and have the faith to let His hand guide yours. You have the divine potential to accomplish anything for which you are willing to work hard. Our success and our happiness do not depend on the circumstances that we face but on how we face those circumstances.
Estela Marquez, "Enduring and Trusting to the End", BYU Speeches, September 22, 2020
Nobody can ensure your success or failure but you. We are the only ones that can control our destiny, nobody else can control it for us. They may influence us, and most often they do. Our circumstances should not define us or limit us. They can try though, and will try. But I guarantee that the circumstances of someone else are far worse than our own. We live in a first world country after all. And the greatest country in the world even. All of the issues we find ourselves in pale in comparison to the issues others are facing around the world.
I think others in society blame someone else far to often. Instead of taking accountability for our own lives, it is far to easy to look outward instead of inward. And, what's happening is we are being forced not to put in as much effort into anything because it makes someone else, who is not willing to put in the effort, look bad.
One of the most difficult things is not to change society - but to change yourself.
Let me tell you something you already know. The world ain't all sunshine and rainbows. It's a very mean and nasty place, and I don't care how tough you are, it will beat you to your knees and keep you there permanently if you let it. You, me, or nobody is gonna hit as hard as life. But it ain't about how hard you hit. It's about how hard you can get hit and keep moving forward; how much you can take and keep moving forward. That's how winning is done! Now, if you know what you're worth, then go out and get what you're worth. But you gotta be willing to take the hits, and not be pointing fingers saying you ain't where you wanna be because of him, or her, or anybody. Cowards do that and that ain't you. You're better than that!
