An Apostle of the Lord is telling us to strive to be our best. In other words, the Lord Himself is telling us to strive to be our best.
I think that the word "strive" means more than just putting in the effort to do the things that I know I need to do. It means having my heart in the right place. It means wanting to strive. It means thinking about Christ and what He was and is.
It takes on a deeper meaning when you personalize that the Lord is telling you yourself to strive to be better. That He is talking directly to me. He wants me to be better, to try harder.
