You may be facing overwhelming challenges. Sometimes they are so concentrated, so unrelenting, that you may feel they are beyond your capacity to control. Don’t face the world alone. ‘Trust in the Lord with all thine heart; and lean not unto thine own understanding’ (Proverbs 3:5). It was intended that life be a challenge, not so that you would fail, but that you might succeed through overcoming.
Elder Richard G. Scott, "Finding Peace, Happiness, and Joy", Deseret Book, 2007
Heavenly Father only has one purpose..."to bring to pass the immortality and eternal life" of all His children. That's it. That is all He is focused on. Everything He does is for that end.
How does He do that? By small and simple means, little by little.
So...our challenges and trials, although they don't seem small or simple at all as we go through them, give us an opportunity to progress towards the end goal. The goal of eternal life.
We may never be asked to uproot our families, leave our homes, travel on foot for thousands of miles, and suffer unimaginable physical hardships. But, we will very likely be asked to pass through trials where we will be asked to suffer unimaginable "spiritual" hardships.
Again, these hardships are an opportunity to grow as we overcome them with the help of our Brother. Mostly little by little, not all at once, overnight.
So, theoretically, the harder the challenges I pass, the better the opportunity I have to progress and grow. Either that, or I have much further to go along this path than the next person. Or, I'm too stubborn to learn and grow altogether. It's probably a combination of all three. 😁
That is how we grow. That is how we progress. That is how we reach eternal life. Little by little. Challenge by challenge. As we climb and reach the top of any wall, any challenge, there will be another wall, another challenge. But....we are stronger after the previous wall we climbed so we can do this. Then, as we climb each subsequent wall, we are getting unimaginably stronger and stronger....little by little.
