November 7, 2020 - Life Preserver

Brethren I have been very much edified and instructed in your testimonies here tonight, but I want to say to you before the Lord, that you know no more concerning the destinies of this Church and kingdom than a babe upon its mother’s lap. You don’t comprehend it. … It is only a little handfull of Priesthood you see here tonight, but this Church will fill North and South America—it will fill the world.

Prophet Joseph Smith, Priesthood meeting with all Priesthood holders, 1834

We are blessed to be members of this restored church. We are a part of this stone that is rolling forth throughout all the world. Just ponder on the immensity of this stone now compared to 1834. Ponder on the acceleration now too. It is rolling fast and getting faster. It will not and cannot be stopped, or even slowed.

And this stone is rolling quietly and in the background. Despite everything that grabs our attention nowadays, like the injustices, the political absurdity that is so loud, the ignorance that is so apparent, the natural disasters that are so widespread and increasing in frequency, the mental and physical plagues and diseases, the destruction of freedoms and families, yea.... despite all of that, the gospel of Jesus Christ saves and brings peace to millions who are listening and hopping on the Good Ship Zion.

I urge you, and I need to be better too, to make sure our lamps have oil. Let's stay on the Good Ship Zion and not jump off. Sometimes we get off but are still holding on to a life preserver with an attached rope tied to the ship. Hold on tight. That "life preserver", He will not let go of us. Let's work our way back onto the deck.

This ship is moving. With or without us. Let's not let distraction or attraction grab our attention. It's so easy to lose our focus. I do it all the time. But it's the wise who are aware and bring the focus back. I'm not saying I'm wise, by any means. 😁 I need to be better at returning my focus every time it wanders.

"Oh, be wise. What can I say more?" - Jacob 6:12
