November 26, 2021 - Light In Darkness

Every soul who walks the earth, wherever he [or she] lives, in whatever nation he [or she] may have been born, no matter whether he [or she] be in riches or in poverty, had at birth an endowment of that first light which is called the Light of Christ, the Spirit of Truth, or the Spirit of God—that universal light of intelligence with which every soul is blessed.

President Harold B. Lee, Stand Ye In Holy Places, Deseret Book 1974

For some reason, while I drifted off for a nap today, I remember distinctly having the thought that the darker a room is, the brighter a light shines. Then I was wide awake. I, then, started pondering on this concept. I thought about how it's difficult to see a light at midday. I also thought thought about how a light is stronger when the lumens are centralized, like a flashlight, etc., and that relates to my own light.

Not sure why I had that thought in the first place. Maybe I'm being told that the world is going to get darker and darker, or I need to brighten my own light, i.e., strengthen my own testimony. I'm sure it's a combination of the two.

Regardless, each of us has the responsibility to brighten our own light... strengthen our own testimony. Every single person born on this earth has this light. We each have the inate ability to know what is right and what is wrong. It came from somewhere. This light is often called our conscience.

I'm going to put a prioritized focus on strengthening my light, especially this time of year but also from here on out. I urge each of you to do the same.....please. I need examples of light surrounding me, lifting me up, and supporting me forward.
