No matter what mistakes we have made or how imperfect we feel we are, we can always bless and lift others. Reaching out to them in Christlike service can help us be not troubled.
Elder Ronald A. Rasband, "Be Not Troubled", Deseret Book 2021
It seems there are a lot of challenges and trials that consume our focus and attention. It's difficult NOT to think of our own selves and what we are going through. These difficulties are a part of who we are, afterall. However, no matter how bad we think we have it in life, there will always be somebody who has it worse. So they need our help to lift that load. The Lord is counting on us to help them lift that load.
And because we are so focused on our own trials, we are stressed, we are concerned about this or that, we are worried for the future (as in my case), hence, we are troubled.
Elder Rasband is saying as an Apostle of the Lord, that as we help and lift others... our stress, our concern, our worry, and our troubles will diminish until we are free from that imprisonment.
How glorious. How critical. How amazing.
Helping others does not necessarily mean we spend a Saturday morning lifting boxes to help another move. It can be as simple as lending a friendly ear as we listen to the concerns of another, or doing the dishes without being asked. Forgetting ourselves and focusing on others and their struggles is what will change us.
