May, 11, 2020 - Brighter and brighter

Divine light and wisdom continue to increase when love for Deity grows: "That which is of God is light, and he that receiveth light, and continueth in God, receiveth more light; and that light groweth brighter and brighter until the perfect day" (D&C 50:24; see also 88:67).
Here is the Lord's promise to you and to me: "He that keepeth [God's] commandments receiveth truth and light, until he is glorified in truth and knoweth all things" (D&C 93:28).
Where is wisdom?  It pulses and surges in the Lord's light of truth!  With that light, He lifts us toward His glorious goal of eternal life, when we may dwell with Him forever.

President Russell M. Nelson, "Education: A Religious Responsibility", BYU Speech, January 2010

Knowing all things is part of our ultimate goal, eternal life. The only way we get to the point where we know all things, is by learning what we don't know. But how do we know what we don't know?

A couple of points to make here:

1. The Holy Ghost, aside from knowing all things Himself, will tell us what we don't know. He will help us learn what we don't know. But, in order for that to happen, we need the Holy Ghost with us. He cannot and does not put up with our mortal, natural tendencies. He leaves. Unfortunately though, we are not perfect, so we will do mortal, natural things. Our pursuit is to do less and less of the natural man things and more and more of the Christlike things. The more we can do that, the more the Holy Ghost is with us, and subsequently, the more we learn.

2. President Nelson tells us that our light grows brighter and brighter the more we love God and His Christ, our Savior. And the more know Them, the more we love Them. Therefore, the brighter our light, our knowledge grows.

Knowing all things is not just about spiritual matters. We will know Everything. From mathematics, to physics, to history, to chemistry, and all that pertains to our professions, even all that pertains to every profession, and more, even wisdom and knowledge that our finite minds didn't even know could be possible.

Another point that just crossed my mind....those that don't make it back to live with our Father, even eternal life, will not know everything. Their light is not completely bright. Can you imagine going through the eternities not knowing everything? A question may arise, as it does now for certain things, but, you will never get the answer. There is no increase.
