March 4, 2022 - Be Wise

Knowledge is to wisdom what belief is to faith, one an abstract principle, the other a living application. Not possession merely, but the proper use of knowledge constitutes wisdom.

James E. Talmage, "Articles of Faith"

If you sit and ponder this statement by Elder Talmage, you can begin to understand the profundity of his mind and, therefore, of the gospel. The gospel of Jesus Christ is simple so that mere mortals can understand it, but it also complex and deep.

Believing alone is just not going to cut it if the goal is eternal life with Heavenly Father. There has to be action. Belief and action is where faith begins to build. Afterall, devils believe that there is a God.

Likewise, just knowing something isn't going to cut it. There has to be an application of that knowledge. Knowledge and application is where wisdom lies.

It is one thing to know there is a God. It's a completely different thing to know there is a God AND live so to be like Him.

This reminds me of what Jacob said in the Book of Mormon...."O, be wise; what can I say more?" - Jacob 6:12

Succinct and to the point. So, we have to be wise in our decisions. If Christ were faced with that particular decision that we come across, you can rest assured He'd be wise in His choice. We should be too.
