Those times when we most want to shake our fists at heaven because of sorrow, agony, and discouragement are the very instants when we ought to drop to our knees.
Tom Christofferson, "A Better Heart", Deseret Book 2020
When I read this, I immediately thought of the decorative sign in my parents home that says "When life gets too hard to stand....kneel".
Its easy, especially in today's world, to blame others for our circumstances, especially heaven. We aren't where we think we should be because of that person, or that other person, or because of God Himself (as if He wouldn't know better what we need to get us to learn, or get us moving, or both).
So, as the apostles teach us, when we don't feel like praying, then pray until we feel like it. For me, that happens quite a bit. Because of a lack of motivation, or because praying requires me getting down only to get back up, or because the adversary is working overtime to keep me distracted, or all of the above at once.
So, I will try to remember, that the next time I don't feel like praying, or life is out of whack, or I am going through something I deem unfair, it is then that the adversary is hard at work making me feel like that, and that is EXACTLY why I need to kneel down and pray.
