28 And when the times of the Gentiles is come in, a light shall break forth among them that sit in darkness, and it shall be the fulness of my gospel;
31 And there shall be men standing in that generation, that shall not pass until they shall see an overflowing scourge; for a desolating sickness shall cover the land.
32 But my disciples shall stand in holy places, and shall not be moved; (D&C 45:28, 31-32)
24 That which is of God is light; and he that receiveth light, and continueth in God, receiveth more light; and that light groweth brighter and brighter until the perfect day. (D&C 50:24)
67 And if your eye be single to my glory, your whole bodies shall be filled with light, and there shall be no darkness in you; and that body which is filled with light comprehendeth all things. (D&C 88:67)
I’ve been thinking a lot lately of being isolated because of what is going on and the opportunity that affords us to increase our knowledge, our light.
We have been given the light of the gospel in our lives. It is up to us to use that light, even increase that light, so we can see through the darkness. We need to be “spiritually pedaling” as I mentioned before.
But what can we do to increase that light in these circumstances?
Turning again to D&C, our homes are holy places. We shall not be moved because of what is going on in the world ; both this sickness as well as this spiritual plague that is spreading. Light is available to us. Intelligence is available to us. All we have to do is reach out and grasp it. Make ourselves single to His glory.
We have an opportunity like never before to focus on eternal things. The Lord is testing us to see how we respond, I believe. Will we take advantage? Or, retreat because it’s not fair?
We know that whatever principle of intelligence we attain here will rise with us after this life. What a promise! Just think about the advantages we’ll have in the next life because our light is already shining. The brighter it is shining, the closer we are to our ultimate goal.
We also see in the world “men are lovers of their own selves”. Wisdom and intelligence, true wisdom and intelligence, is rare. Without focusing on Christ, that wisdom and intelligence availeth nothing. It’s useless and worthless.
Bottom line is read, study, learn, and enjoy time with loved ones. Strengthen those relationships. Serve each other and neighbors. We are promised that our light will increase doing this. It will grow brighter and brighter until that perfect day when we shall comprehend all things.
