March 23, 2022 - Love God

Putting the first commandment [to love God] first does not diminish or limit our ability to keep the second commandment [to love our neighbor]. To the contrary, it amplifies and strengthens it. It means that we enhance our love by anchoring it in divine purpose and power. It means that we have the Holy Ghost to inspire us in ways to reach out that we would never have seen on our own. Love of God elevates our ability to love others because we, in essence, partner with God in the care of His children.

Elder D. Todd Christofferson, BYU Devotional, March 22, 2022

Imagine what this world would be like if all of us kept the second commandment? What a visual. No fighting, no contention, no wars, no unnecessary death!! Satan is doing his work very well right now, I gotta say.

Two things....one, that is exactly how the Law of Consecration will go. Everyone will love everyone else....despite differences and disagreements. Everyone will share. Everyone is considered equal. The goal is the same. That is also how the highest kingdom, the Celestial Kingdom, will be....only so, so, so much better.

And, two , to perfect our ability to keep the second commandment, we need to focus on keeping the first. When we strengthen our love for God and His Son, a natural byproduct will be our love of all humankind will be strengthened.
