March 11, 2021 - Drop Anchor

If we are anchored to Jesus Christ, and striving to keep His commandments, let what happens in the world that we can’t control happen. And we will be happy. We will be secure. And we will be helpful and full of service and desire to do the right things. It is that simple.

President M. Russell Ballard, One Year of COVID-19: What we know now, Church News, March 10, 2021

Anchored to Jesus Christ!! What exactly does that mean?

An anchor is used to keep a vessel from floating away or drifting on the sea top. The anchor is let down when the captain decides it doesn't want to float away.

When a ship drops anchor, that anchor may drag along the ground until it hits a spot where it absolutely does not move.

We too must be the captain of our own lives and make a conscious decision to drop anchor and not drift away with the pull of the sea, or, rather, the world. It may take a minute for the anchor to catch and then it's firmly on place.

It may take a minute for our testimonies to catch but, when they do, they are firmly in place and we won't drift. That's the goal, especially when there's storms and rough waves.
