June 25, 2021 - Hope On

Whatever your struggle—mental or emotional or physical or otherwise—do not vote against the preciousness of life! Trust in God. Hold on in His love. Know that one day the dawn will break brightly and all shadows of mortality will flee. Though we may feel we are “like a broken vessel,” as the Psalmist says, we must remember, that vessel is in the hands of the divine potter. Broken minds can be healed just the way broken bones and broken hearts are healed.

Elder Jeffrey R. Holland, "Like A Broken Vessel", General Conference, October 2013

Hope is a very powerful and a much needed thing in life. If I didn't know there was a purpose here or life after my earthly sojourn, my life would be a terribly different experience.

But I know that, one day, I don't know when, but one day, all of our worries, all of our struggles, all of our pain, all of our heartache, everything negative that we deal with every single day will be nonexistent. It will be gone.

When things are particularly difficult for me, I sit and think about how good, even how wonderful everything will be when that day comes. In fact, I don't even know how wonderful that day will be. I can't fathom it. It will be such relief, such happiness, such joy, that my mortal self cannot find the thoughts and feelings until I actually experience those thoughts and feelings myself.

One day!

What joy! What a weight that will be lifted. I can't even imagine how heavy a burden this mortal weight actually is that's pushing me down, until it's gone.

But I also know, that particular day will be ever sweeter and more meaningful because I endured my mortal challenges, and struggles, and pains here and now. I have not always succeeded or had the motivation nor energy to fight. I have rested at times when the fight got especially brutal, but I did not give up! I kept going. I'll keep going. Even if that means only an inch forward at a time.

That WILL count for something.

Hope is absolutely necessary to keep going. That hope is found in one source.... Jesus Christ.
