We can reach for the Savior by treasuring His word, feasting upon the sacred book of scripture given for our day, the Book of Mormon.
Reyna I. Aburto, "Reaching For The Savior", Deseret Book 2021
Have you ever had one of those days where you're just exhausted? Both physically and mentally, even emotionally? You don't want to get up. You don't want to exert any effort to do anything.
I'll admit that I do have days like that. The effort just to get up and walk to the other side of the house is just too daunting, let alone do anything that requires extended effort, like wash dishes or do laundry. Even the effort to open a book and mentally assert myself is too demanding sometimes.
It's so much easier to just sit and watch mindless TV or listen to music. To not move.
But, the long term effects of doing that are both devastating and dangerous. Those effects are the same physically as they are spiritually.
When I have days like this, I think of how all I need to do is reach out for the Savior. That means, of course, that I apply specific focus to Him and for His help. I ask Him for help. I pray to Heavenly Father to send me His help.
Then, I turn to the Book of Mormon. I get His help by reading and studying the book that was written specifically for us and our day. He is inside those pages. The effort I put into finding Him, or reaching out to Him, results in a thousand+ fold returns on my investment. Tell me doing this isn't worth it.
So, when we need Him, we will find Him in the Book of Mormon.
