July 2, 2021 - Two Sides, One Coin

A two-sided coin reminds us of our two-fold duties to truth and to tolerance. In our efforts to strengthen religious freedom, we must always remember that the truth of our cause does not free us from our duty of tolerance toward those who differ.

President Dallin H. Oaks, Freedom Awards Gala, July 1, 2021

Tolerance can be very hard to do at times. I believe that the more we know of the truth and the more we believe in Christ, tolerance towards others who differ in their beliefs is easier to do.

I often wonder how Christ handled that particular situation. Obviously, we know that He ALWAYS stayed on His Father's errand and on His side. He is the perfect example of loving everyone while not always accepting their actions.

But how do I remain tolerant of others while still defending the truth myself? We are blessed to have the Example to follow. We are blessed to have divine guidance in those situations. We are blessed to have a prophet's voice to follow. All 3 of those blessings are available to us freely. The question is, are we taking advantage of them?
