July 19, 2021 - Gentle Nudges

So if you have made covenants, keep them. If you haven’t made them, make them. If you have made them and broken them, repent and repair them. It is never too late so long as the Master of the vineyard says there is time. Please listen to the prompting of the Holy Spirit telling you right now, this very moment, that you should accept the atoning gift of the Lord Jesus Christ and enjoy the fellowship of His labor. Don’t delay. It’s getting late.

Elder Jeffrey R. Holland, "The Laborers in the Vineyard", General Conference, April 2012

I have been feeling a bit discouraged and frustrated lately because of my meager, but heavy to me, load. The amount I carry is subjective. Only Christ and myself truly know what I wade through. Just like only Christ and you truly know what you each carry.

But...the common denominator is Christ. He knows each of us personally and He knows exactly what each of us is dealing with. In fact, He knows each of us better than we know ourselves.

So, when I read this talk, and particularly this quote from Elder Holland, about paying attention to the Spirit prompting me this very instant, I understood better why I am carrying this load in the first place. I'm not saying I know the reason I have it, but I understand it's purpose a bit better. I also heard from the Spirit this very instant what it is I need to do to be better.

Point is, He is prompting me, He is speaking to me, He is nudging me, He is encouraging me, He is pleading with me....constantly. He sacrificed Himself, not for all the weaknesses and mistakes of all humankind in general.... but for my mistakes. For my heartaches. For my pains. For my sicknesses. For me.

He is still sacrificing for me. Everything He does is for me....and for you.

All we have to do is listen to what He is telling us and then go and do it.
