Because of Jesus Christ, our failures do not have to define us. They can refine us.
Elder Dieter F. Uchtdorf, "God Among Us", General Conference, April 2021

When I look at myself, I see myself by what I've done in the past. In my mind, who I am is a complete sum of everything I've done. I am defined by that.
But, Jesus Christ doesn't see me by what I've done. To Him, I am not defined by that. To Him, I am defined by who I am spiritually, i.e., who I am as a spirit child of Heavenly Father...who I was before being born on earth.
I need to learn to see myself that way too. I need to figure out who I was there first of all. Seeing myself that way will also allow me to see others that way, not for what they do on earth.
