July 1, 2021 - Which Way Do We Face?

In between the glorious height of eternal life in God's kingdom and the abysmal depth of eternal damnation in the kingdom of the devil, there are many degrees of salvation. The one each person obtains depends upon how much of the truth he chooses to believe and obey.

Elder Bruce R. McConkie, “A New Witness for the Articles of Faith”

Before we can believe and obey the truth, we must locate it. I have been so blessed to have been born into the truth. I didn't have to look for it. However, because I was born into it, my responsibility is to help others come to the truth.

Also, because I have the truth it is more critical that I believe and obey it and not take it for granted. The Lord holds those that have the truth to higher standard of following it. We will be accountable if we neglect it or take it for granted.

That can be stressful and intimidating.

The good news is that we can always start this very instant to believe and obey the truth we have. It doesn't matter what we did last year, or yesterday, or even an hour ago. We can turn around and face Christ and then walk towards Him.

That brings me comfort. It doesn't matter how far along the straight and narrow path we are. What matters is which way we face. We are told not to look at the sun, but, in this case, we absolutely have to look at the Son.

So, all I need to focus on is facing Christ and walking towards Him.
