“Please remember tomorrow, and all the days after that, that the Lord blesses those who want to improve, who accept the need for commandments and try to keep them, who cherish Christlike virtues and strive to the best of their ability to acquire them. If you stumble in that pursuit, so does everyone; the Savior is there to help you keep going. If you fall, summon His strength…He will help you get back up. He will help you repent, repair, fix whatever you have to fix, and keep going. Soon enough you will have the success you seek.”
Elder Jeffrey R. Holland, “Tomorrow the Lord Will Do Wonders among You”, General Conference, April 2016
I find great solace in this. Keywords such as “want”, “best of their ability”, “strive”, “try”, etc., tell me that as long as my desire is there, I will succeed. D&C 46:9 says that all we need is to “seek so to do”. When Christ is with us, we will succeed, as long as we try. We will fall but Christ will pick us up.
There will be days that we just don’t want to. I have many of those. But the Lord sees your faith when you force yourself to do it anyway. And He blessed you for it. So, remember, at those times when you don’t want to, the Lord has blessings in store if you do anyway. More than you can imagine.
