“It won’t be easy to remember. Living as we do with a veil over our eyes, we cannot remember what it was like to be with our Heavenly Father and His Beloved Son, Jesus Christ, in the premortal world; nor can we see with our physical eyes or with reason alone the hand of God in our lives. Seeing such things takes the Holy Ghost. And it is not easy to be worthy of the Holy Ghost’s companionship in a wicked world.”
President Henry B. Eyring, “O Remember, Remember”, General Conference, October 2007
It is simply amazing to look back on my life and see how the Lord guided me, urging me, sometimes nudging me, in the right direction, no matter how stubborn I have been in going that direction. He faced me in the correct direction but it was ultimately me who had to move that way. He directed me in spite of my weaknesses and mortal perception.
I feel that He continues to spin me around so that I face the right way. However, it is still up to me to move forward. The only way I can keep moving the right direction is with the Holy Ghost by my side.
My life has been and is full of tender mercies. I don’t remember who I was or what my potential is. Heavenly Father and Christ know. And they have given me tools to lead me along, if I pay attention. Chief among those tools is the Holy Ghost. Trick is paying attention full time. There are many, many distractions. I sometimes forget, or worse….at times, I lack motivation to keep fighting. Then I think of all the heavenly hosts that are supporting me and cheering me on. I think of Ben. I know he’s busy but I also know he knows what is going on in my small fraction of the Plan. Grandma and grandpa too. Even all of my family that has passed over.
Last thought I had was President Nelson’s plea that “in the coming days, it will not be possible to survive without the Spirit”. We need the Spirit to see the Lord’s hand in our individual lives. Of all His children, He cares enough to lead me…..ME…..back home. He cares about you too. The only way to know the way, is with the Spirit.
