It is the hope and prayer of this disciple that the doctrines announced and the truths taught in the Articles of Faith may live in the hearts of the Latter-day Saints and of all who will yet join with them in striving to gain that eternal life which is the greatest of all the gifts of God. There is no salvation in an unused truth; it is only when men conform to the truth and make it a part of their very being that they advance and progress and finally qualify to return to the Eternal Presence.
Elder Bruce R. McConkie, "A New Witness for the Articles of Faith"
It's very simple. When we have the truth, which we do as members of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, then we must, I repeat, must internalize it and make it a part of our beings. Our very characters. If we do not do that, then we will not have eternal life with our Heavenly Father and Mother and our Brother, Jesus Christ.

It is not a matter of belief. In my mind, it is fact. We are here in this phase of the Plan of Salvation, to learn to suppress our mortal and physical tendencies. In all things, not just immoral or sinful choices placed before us. Our spirits have to lead our physical bodies.
And by doing that, our spirits are more susceptible to divine guidance, through revelation. That is how we progress. That is how we advance. We have the tools to do this. We have the necessary support and aid to do this. We just need to want to do this.
