“Use your ingenuity, your strength, your might to resolve your challenges. Do all you can do and then leave the rest to the Lord. President Howard W. Hunter said: “If our lives and our faith are centered on Jesus Christ and his restored gospel, nothing can ever go permanently wrong. On the other hand, if our lives are not centered on the Savior and his teachings, no other success can ever be permanently right.”
Elder Joseph B. Wirthlin, “Finding a Safe Harbor”, General Conference, April 2000
The Lord is at the helm. He is steering this ship. We know where it’s heading and what will happen once we get there. Storms will rage during our trip. We will even get sea sick at times. As long as we ride the storms of life out, we will be fine. As long as we stay on the ship, we will be fine.
Nothing, as President Hunter said, will ever be permanently wrong as long as we are on the Lord’s side. Conversely, if we are not on the Lord’s side…well, wrong will be more permanent.
So, let’s keep fighting. Keep trying. Keep enduring. No matter how hard the storm is, or how weak and beaten we are. It’s not permanent. It won’t be. It may seem like it at times, but this life is but a small, small fraction of eternity. I’d rather be tired and weak now vs how eternity will be if I’m not on the ship.
