We declare to all the world that for real and abiding peace to come, we must strive to be more like that exemplary Son of God. Many among us are trying to do that. I salute you for your obedience, your forbearance, your waiting faithfully upon the Lord for the strength you seek which will surely come.
Elder Jeffrey R. Holland, "The Peaceable Things of the Kingdom"
I would venture to say that we are all in need of peace. I know I need it a lot.
But do you know what's interesting? When I am focused on Christ, His atonement, the words of God, and when I strive to keep the commandments, I can feel the peace. The peace that only Christ can give. I feel calm despite the stresses of life. I feel comfort despite the fears that are abounding all around.
When I am focused only on myself, doing what my mortal self wants to do, I can feel the difference. I am stressed out. I am worried and concerned because I see where this world is going. I am scared for my loved ones, especially for my children and granddaughter, who have to grow up and face the realities of this life.
I can see and feel the difference.
All I can do now is be an example for others to see. All I can do is concern myself with my own salvation and those closest to me. All I can do is keep fighting. I may lose many battles but I do win some too. The point is to keep battling... to get up when we get knocked down.
"You, me, or nobody is gonna hit as hard as life. But it ain't about how hard you hit. It's about how hard you can get hit and keep moving forward....how much you can take and keep moving forward. That's how winnin' is done"! - Rocky Balboa
The Savior of the world provides peace despite how hard we are hit.
