The gospel of Jesus Christ is a gospel of repentance. Because of the Savior’s Atonement, His gospel provides an invitation to keep changing, growing, and becoming more pure. It is a gospel of hope, of healing, and of progress. Thus, the gospel is a message of joy! Our spirits rejoice with every small step forward we take.
President Russell M. Nelson, "Welcome Message", General Conference, April 2021
President Nelson talked about the renovation taking place on the Salt Lake Temple and how "old debris" is being removed to make the Temple a better and more efficient place.
I have a lot of old debris that needs to be removed so that I can move forward as a better and more efficient person in the gospel.
I am constantly under renovation. I am constantly being improved, well...for the most part. There are times of frustration, discouragement, lack of motivation, etc., but those are the precise times that I need to hit my knees and ask for those feelings to be removed.
Those feelings are a hinderment, an obstacle to my moving forward. There may be challenges, trials, etc., but I can still move forward even with that load. Negative feelings, however, keep me from progressing, from moving forward. And Heavenly Father can help replace those feelings.
