April 4, 2021 - Follow the Prophet

To do anything well requires effort. Becoming a true disciple of Jesus Christ is no exception. Faith in Jesus Christ is the foundation of all belief and the conduit of divine power. Here are five things to help increase faith in Christ. First, study. Become an engaged learner. Second, choose to believe in Jesus Christ. Third, act in faith. Fourth, partake of sacred ordinances worthily. And fifth, ask your Heavenly Father, in the name of Jesus Christ, for help.

President Russell M. Nelson, Sunday Morning Session, General Conference, April 4, 2021

A prophet of God is giving us direction here. Paraphrasing of course. God never interferes with our agency. He never comes out and demands that we do certain things in order to live with Him again. He will not and cannot do that.

But....that, in a way, is what He's doing. He is telling us without forcing us. He is pleading with us to do these 5 things to hopefully increase our faith. Why? Because He is hoping we will do so then we can live with Him again.

During this Sunday morning session, a distinct thought came to my mind about my relationship with my Brother, Jesus Christ. In this thought, Christ and I met face to face after this phase of the Plan was all done. It was very similar to the way my own earthly brothers and I greet each other, with a hug and a "how is everything bud?", except this reunion was greatly magnified. I was crying. Christ was crying. We hugged. And He said "you did it".

I understood better, from that thought, what my relationship was like with Christ before I came here. I understood our interactions then. Laughing together. Crying together. Being funny together. Enjoying each other's company. I got the sense that He was more of a very close friend than He was of someone who was intimidating and unapproachable, because of His higher plane and aptitude, and busy schedule, as if He couldn't make time for just me. He could. He did. He still does.

He is anxiously awaiting for me to return. Like an old friend, after a long absence. He and Our Father are telling me how to get back, how to make it through this mortal probation. They are telling me through Their servants here, especially the prophet. I need to pay attention.
