April 15, 2020 – Always retain in remembrance

11 And again I say unto you as I have said before, that as ye have come to the knowledge of the glory of God, or if ye have known of his goodness and have tasted of his love, and have received a remission of your sins, which causeth such exceedingly great joy in your souls, even so I would that ye should remember, and always retain in remembrance, the greatness of God, and your own nothingness, and his goodness and long-suffering towards you, unworthy creatures, and humble yourselves even in the depths of humility, calling on the name of the Lord daily, and standing steadfastly in the faith of that which is to come, which was spoken by the mouth of the angel.

Mosiah 4:11

“Even so I would that ye should remember, and always retain in remembrance, the greatness of God”..

For sometime I’ve pondered what is that I need to do more, to do further, to get the help and strength I need to keep moving forward on the path and NOT wander off and get lost.

Then it reaches out to me….I need to remember what God has done for me, count my blessings as it were, and ALWAYS remember what He has done for me, is doing for me, and will yet do for me. Always.

When I read the word “always”, I need to understand that it means constantly. Not when I sit down to study scriptures or pray. Always for about an hour won’t work. I need to remember Him in everything I do.

Remember why I am doing what I’m doing. Remember Who made it possible to do what I’m doing. And not get upset at trivial things because He wouldn’t and doesn’t want me to.

Recently, one of my thoughts was about remembering Him, not necessarily in thought always, but in action. Being like Him to others is remembering Him.

I watched a video recently that left a profound impression on me. The concept of it I’ve heard before many times but to see it in this perspective, solidified it a bit more.

Sometimes I get blown off course. I get swept from grasping the iron rod. The stronger my roots, the less I am moved when the winds are the fiercest.

So, always remembering the greatness of God in my life is how I can strengthen those roots.
