April 14, 2021 - Divine Potential

Our Heavenly Father wants us to love ourselves—not to become prideful or self-centered, but to see ourselves as He sees us: we are His cherished children. When this truth sinks deep into our hearts, our love for God grows. When we view ourselves with sincere respect, our hearts are open to treat others that way too. The more we recognize our divine worth, the better we understand this divine truth: that God has sent us right here, right now, at this momentous time in history, so that we can do the greatest possible good with the talents and gifts we have. This is our time!

S. Gifford Nielsen, " This Is Our Time!", General Conference, April 2021

Its hard for me to love myself and see me for what I really am, a son of God. I can see others for being daughters and sons of God before I see myself that way. Why is that?

Why am I so hard on myself at times? I'm sure that doesn't please Heavenly Father.

Is it because I know better at those times when I falter? Is it because I know I'm not living up to expectations I place on myself? Is it because I feel embarrassed when I am seen as less than how I think others see me?

Regardless, Heavenly Father sees me as His son. He sees my potential, not where I am today, but where I can be.

That is something I need to get better at.
